Q: What exactly is jailbreaking?

 A: The exact definition is,  the act of exploiting a bug in an software application to gain access to resources which normally would have been protected from an application or user.(WIKIPEDIA-ARTICLE: privilege escalation).

Q: Wait, What?

 A: Simply put, jailbreaking will allow you to open up your iPod to third party applications.

Q: FANTASTIC! But whats a third party application?

A: Third party applications are made by developers, that are not a part of apple, the opposite would be if apple created an app it would be a "First party app". Most of the apps you download will actually be "homebrewed" which means people just like you and me created the app.

Q: Okay, that sounds really cool. But what exactly can I install?

A: The sky's the limit! There are TONS of apps out there everything from full themes (to change the look of you touch), to simple games such as solitare.

Q: Well, before I do this, will I be able to go back to a "un-jailbroken" iPod?

 A: ABSOLUTELY! To go back to original iPod setting (non-jailbroken) all you have to do is just plug it in your Computer, connect to iTunes, and click restore to factory settings.

Q: Is there anything else I should know?

 A: Yes, if you are serious about jailbreaking you should know that it will PERMANENTLY void your warrenty. And, I am stating here and now that due to the fact that I'm just a guy with no money and don't want to be sued, I WILL NOT BE HELD LIABLE FOR ANYTHING YOU DO TO YOUR IPOD! Q: OMG!!!1 OMG! I THINK I BROKE MY IPOD!!!!!11! WHAT DO I DO?!?!

A: Don't Worry, it is nearly impossible to actually brick an iPod (unless you open it up and rip out the circuit haha). All you have to do is hold down the sleep/wake button and the home button at the same time for a long time. Keep holding (even through the apple logo)  until you see the connect to iTunes symbol. Then connect to iTunes, restore and go at it again!
